The Ketu mantra is Om Stram Streem Straum Sah Ketave Namah (ॐ स्त्रां स्त्रीं स्त्रौं सः केतवे नमः) — the primary Vedic remedy for Ketu energy. Ketu is called the Moksha Karaka (liberation significator) — the planet whose ultimate function is to dissolve the ego's attachment to material existence and point consciousness toward liberation. Ketu Gayatri: ॐ गणेशाय विद्महे, वक्रतुण्डाय धीमहि, तन्नो केतुः प्रचोदयात्। Om Ganeshaya Vidmahe, Vakratundaya Dhimahi, Tanno Ketuh Prachodayat. "We know Ganesha (Ketu's deity is Ganesha); we meditate on the curved-trunked one; may Ketu inspire us."

This Gayatri establishes the crucial connection: Ketu's deity is Ganesha. This is why the Ganesha mantra (Om Gam Ganapataye Namah) is also a Ketu remedy — the same Ketu-Ganesha connection that makes Ketu periods marked by sudden wisdom, obstacle-dissolution, and the ability to see past the illusions that block progress.

Ketu Stotram key verse: पलाशपुष्पसंकाशं तारकाग्रह मस्तकम्। रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम्॥ Palasha Pushpa Sankasham Tarakagram Mastakam, Roudram Roudratmakam Ghoram Tam Ketum Pranamamyaham. "I bow to Ketu — red as the palasha flower, his head among the stars, fierce and frightening in appearance."

Ketu is the body without a head — functioning without the mind's ordinary categorizing and planning. This makes Ketu's positive qualities specifically non-mental: intuition (direct knowing without reasoning), psychic sensitivity, sudden insight, past-life memories accessible through meditation, and the effortless expertise that comes from skills deeply developed in previous lives.

Ketu's negative qualities are also specifically related to headlessness: confusion without specific cause, inability to articulate what one knows, directionlessness despite competence, and the experience of material life feeling meaningless.

The specific experience of well-placed Ketu: you know things without knowing how you know them, you have abilities that came "too easily" without years of practice, and you feel genuinely unattached to outcomes. This is the positive Ketu experience.

Ketu Mahadasha (7 years) is characterized by: 1. Detachment from previously valued things: career, relationships, or possessions that seemed important begin to feel hollow 2. Spiritual intensification: meditation and contemplative practices become more powerful; mystical experiences increase 3. Unexpected expertise: skills from past lives may surface suddenly — a person with no musical training may find they can play an instrument intuitively 4. Ketu is the planet most directly associated with meditation, liberation (moksha), and the path of Jnana Yoga (the yoga of knowledge and discrimination).
